The iPhone Air stands out with its ultra-slim profile and lightweight feel. In fact, it weighs just about 165 g and is only ~5.6 mm thick. Its titanium frame and Ceramic Shield glass give it a premium feel. Moreover, its compact size and smooth finish make it comfortable to hold in one hand. Because of its minimalist design, it impresses by both appearance and practicality.
Apple fitted the iPhone Air with a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display featuring a ProMotion refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The result: smooth motion when scrolling and gaming. In addition, the brightness levels are strong even outdoors. The crisp resolution and vivid colours make movies and games pop, while the Always-On feature lets you check time and notifications at a glance.
Under the hood lies the A19 Pro chip, which powers the iPhone Air with speed and efficiency. It handles everyday tasks like apps, camera, streaming and multitasking effortlessly. Because the phone is slim, cooling and component space are tight, but Apple still delivers strong performance in a compact frame. Gaming, editing and general use feel smooth and responsive.
The rear features a 48MP main camera setup. While it doesn’t include the ultra-wide or telephoto lenses found on Pro models, it nonetheless delivers sharp and balanced photos in daylight. The 18MP selfie camera supports Centre Stage and offers clean selfies for social media. On the downside, fewer camera lenses mean less flexibility for wide-angle or zoom shots. So if you rely on many lenses, you might prefer a different model.
Battery life is solid for a phone of this size, with Apple claiming up to ~27 hours of video playback. Charging is via USB-C and MagSafe wireless. The slim build means less space for a huge battery, yet the device manages well for everyday use. If you’re a heavy user, you may need to top up by evening.
In Malaysia, the iPhone Air enters the premium segment with an emphasis on design and portability rather than full-scale specs. At its expected price (starting around RM 4,999 for 256GB) it offers excellent build quality, a smooth display, and high performance. However, it compromises on camera versatility and battery capacity compared to “Pro” models. If you value style, light weight and flagship feel in a compact form, then the iPhone Air is a strong choice. Conversely, if camera features or battery life are your priority, you may consider the base iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Pro.
